Version 2.7

Posted by: John   in Site Maintenance

Inevitably, as with most computer-related things, the previous version of the Wordpress software I was using was out of date.  Usually I dread updating server-side software — mostly because I tend to forget the login information to access the FTP side of the server, and its generally a hassle to backup and upload new files and update.  However, the update to Wordpress 2.7 was super easy and the whole thing was done from within my browser with simple clicks of “Next” and “OK”.

Maybe this will prompt me to actually use my website more and to add nifty plugins and widgets and such.

Then again, maybe not.

Welcome

I think this is my seventh go-around at a site.  Each time I try a new blogging technology or website development software, I say “I think I have a winner”. Well, I’m not going to say that this time.  I’d like to think I can settle down on a technology that works for me and start cranking out non-sensical blog posts about random things that I like, but by now, I know that probably won’t be the case.

Previously, I’ve used Rapidweaver and Sandvox, and both programs are dynamite programs to use.  My only qualm with them is you are locked to one computer.  At first, I thought the logical choice would be my Macbook, but then I purchased an iMac and wanted to use that, which isn’t mobile.

Thirty revolutions later, I’d switched back to Wordpress after seeing a nifty story on Digg about Wordpress themes that are free but look like you paid for them.

Hopefully this will be a winner (but don’t be surprised if I never update it, or change to something else)
